James W Talley

James William Talley, entered into eternal rest on October 22, 2020, at his daughter’s home, in Elizabethton, TN. James William Talley was born August 22, 1929 to Charlie and Lucille Talley, in Sumner County, Hendersonville, Tennessee. He professed a hope in Christ at an early age at Rockland Baptist Church. He loved his church and served on various auxiliaries and committees over the years and was faithful to the Men’s Chorus, Senior Choir, and Deacon Board. He loved his Rockland community and served as president of the Brothers and Sisters Friendship Lodge #1 for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. James loved his family and was fondly known throughout the community by his nicknames of “Knee”, “Talley”, “Little Brother” and he greeted many of his male friends simply by saying, “Hey Doc – What You Know?” In these latter years he would follow with a response back….”I’m still kick’n and/or I’m keeping the dirt off me” He was quick wit and expressed it daily and joyfully! He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lucille Talley, his first wife, Jennie Mae Martin Talley, and second wife Katherine Hudson Talley, stepmother, Stella Talley. Sister, Margaret Simpson, Brothers, Allen and Thomas Talley. He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted daughter, Susan Talley Hamilton, 6 Sisters, Martha Woods, Elizabeth Wallace, Janie Talley, Pauline Grizzard (Hendersonville, TN), Geneva Holland and Patricia Scott (Nashville, TN). 2 Brothers, Robert Talley (Nashville, TN) and Andrew (Joyce) Talley (Mt Juliet, TN). 3 grandchildren, Yvonne, Donnie (DD) Jr, and Jamieson Hamilton, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A devoted son-in-love, Donnie Emory Hamilton, Sr. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, extended family connections and friends. ********** A walk-through viewing will be held Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, at Johnson & Coleman Funeral Home, Gallatin, TN with graveside service will be held at 1:00pm at Brothers & Sisters Friendship Lodge #1 Cemetery, West Main Street, Hendersonville, TN. Everyone in attendance is required to wear mask and maintain social distancing.
